I great man was laid to rest last Thursday. My father. He was well loved by many, many people. Aside from raising me and teaching me the right way to live my life, he also taught me the right way to be an Outdoorsman. He showed me how important it was to respect nature, to understand how lucky I was to be able to enjoy it. It was never about the prize at the end for my dad, it was about the adventure of getting there. He was a true working class outdoorsman, and never took things for granted. He never took the easy way out, and never cut corners.
I was lucky enough to spend many hours with my dad, either hunting or fishing. We went on many fishing trips, including his dream trip - a fly in flyfishing trip to Alaska. I feel so priviliged, not to just have had such a great father figure, but to have endless memories of us in the field.
He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
