Well the MA turkeys are safe from me this year. Several attempts with the bow (and camera) have resulted in two of the most exciting hunts I have ever had, the latest one especially. The third day of the season, had me sitting less than 30 ft from 3 gobblers roosted at eye level. All three birds found their way in bow range. I pulled the trigger, and watched the arrow fly right through the top section of the birds back. Found nothing but feathers after watching the big Tom take flight off the field and into the woods. Strike one.
Two weeks later, I found myself playing cat and mouse with two toms for 7 1/2 hours. Within this period, I had the Toms 15 yds  away but could not grab my bow. I eventually was able to draw and let an arrow fly at thirty yards. The tom was in full strut and facing me. i was at draw for 2 minutes, waiting for him to turn. Just as I released the arrow, he spit and drummed, and slightly moved his body to the side. i watched as the arrow went right past his neck and shoulder, and right through his fan. Strike 2!. That day played out many different scenerios with these two birds, but I was never able to even draw back a second time. I was able to capture some of the action on film, until my battery died.
No spring turkey for me this year, but I still have my NB bear hunt coming up in 11 days. I cant wait!
